MSI Wind U210 battery benchmarked

u210 battery test

The MSI Wind U210 is faster than your typical netbook thanks to its 1.6GHz AMD Neo MV-40 processor and ATI Radeon X1250 graphics. But those are the exact same specs that drag battery life down on the HP Pavilion DV2. So how does the Wind U210 fare in the battery life department? Blogeee decided to find out, and ran an extensive battery (groan) of tests.

The answer, in a nutshell, is that it depends own what you're using the computer to do. With the screen set to 30%, WiFi off, and working in OpenOffice.org, you can squeeze nearly 5 and a half hours of battery life out of the Wind U210. But that doesn't seem like the most common usage scenerio. With WiFi turned on and some light webbrowsing, battery life drops to just under 5 hours. Throw in some YouTube video watching and you lose another 20 or 30 minutes.

And if you want to use the Wind U210 to watch a 3 hour movie, you're probably out of luck. Blogeee found that the battery died after just 2 hours and 11 minutes when playing a 720p H.264 video with the screen at 100% brightness. For more detailed results, check out Blogeee. They also tested some video games on the system and hav eht evideos to prove it.
