Conflicting UK release date for Nexus 7

Last week we saw the Dixons Retail Group in the UK add the Google Nexus 7 tablet to their website with a release date of July 19th. Another UK company however has a later release date. The Carphone Warehouse have listed the Nexus 7 tablet for pre-order but, with an expected release date of July 27th, which is a full 8 days later than Dixons expect to sell the tablet. It could be that the Dixons group have an exclusive deal but, if that were the case we'd expect Dixons to be making some noise about it. The most probable explanation is that one of the companies due date is down to human error.

Which company however, is unclear at the moment. The Google Play Store doesn't state a specific date and only states shipments to be made in one to two weeks. With that time frame in mind, neither a July 19th or July 27th release date is ruled out for the UK. Hopefully though, the correct date is July 19th, making the release only one more week away.

Halo 4 to work on Surface tablet

A Microsoft executive has told VentureBeat that the upcoming Xbox 360 bound game Halo 4, will work on Microsoft's first tablet, the Surface. What wasn't made clear however, is if Halo 4 will be released as a full game for the Surface tablet or if it will work with the SmartGlass app. If it is released as a full game, this would certainly put the Surface about other tablets on the market, including Sony's PlayStation Certified tablets, the Tablet S and Tablet P. More likely however, is that it will work with the SmartGlass app on the tablet.

Considering Halo 4 was in production and confirmed long before the tablet was announced, Halo 4 will most likely work with the SmartGlass app and quite possibly with limited functionality. SmartGlass adds a second screen for games and one possibility is that you will be able to track your Halo 4 stats on the tablet.
