The Archos 80 G9 has started shipping last year. It is an 8-incher tablet with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution running on a dual-core TI OMAP 4 processor. But apparently, another Archos model seems to be on the way for the tablet space. This slate is named as the Archos 80 Cobalt tablet.
The Archos 80 Cobalt visited the FCC website just recently. It appears similar with the original Archos 80 G9 but the tablet's back label says Arnova. Hence, that would suggest an obvious added member for the Arnova line.
ArcTablet also implies the possibility of the Archos 80 Cobalt to be the first tablet of the future Archos Elements slates on mid-range line.
Limited data about this upcoming tablet has established; yet it is expected that the Archos 80 Cobalt will feature 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and might have the same panel aspect ratio as with the 80 G9. Hopefully, with the launch to be made in the US, the tablet will be availale active for the Android 4.0 and a better processor.

We knew Dell was working on tablets running Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system. Now we know what one of the first of those tablets could look like. Neowin has published a leaked image showing a new product called the Dell Latitude 10. It's a tablet with a 10 inch display, an Intel Atom processor, and Windows 8 software. As with...
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words... and a video is worth a few thousand more. If you're trying to sell fireworks, you're selling a box of sticks with the promise that they'll blow up in interesting ways. A picture on the box sort of shows what you're really buying, but a video does a better job. So the...

Earlier this year Toshiba introduced its first netbook with an Intel Atom N2600 Cedar Trail processor. But if you've been waiting to get your hands on the Toshiba NB510 in the US... you're going to be waiting a long time. A Toshiba executive just confirmed to me that Toshiba America has no plans to offer any new netbooks in the...
We've seen plenty of Android tablets with an Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor. But the folks at Shanzhaiben just spotted one of the first Android netbooks powered by an A10 chip. The computer features a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.1 GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. It runs Google Android 4.0 and supports HD...
It's no ultrabook, but the HP Pavilion dm1z is a thin and light laptop that packs a little more punch than your typical netbook thanks to its AMD E-300 dual core processor with Radeon HD graphics. Normally priced at $399 and up, you can pick one up today for $349, which means that this 11.6 inch notebook doesn't cost much...
Google Drive is cool and all, what with the 5GB of online storage users get for free. But Microsoft offers 7GB of free storage with Windows Live SkyDrive (or up to 25GB for some users). Now there's an easy way to access your SkyDrive account from an Android device. Microsoft offers official SkyDrive apps for Windows Phone and iOS, but...
It's no secret that Amazon is working on its next-generation Kindle devices. The company tends to put out at least one product refresh per year, and we've already heard rumors that we could see an E Ink Kindle with a front-lit display and a larger Kindle Fire Android tablet this year. Now Reuters has a few more details on the...
The Dell Inspiron Duo may have been a product ahead of its time. It's a Windows 7 netbook with a dual core Intel Atom processor and a touchscreen display. You can tilt back the display and close the laptop lid to use the computer as a tablet. While Windows 7 doesn't offer the most finger-friendly user experience, there's nothing stopping...
Archos has been releasing special developer edition software for its Android tablets for the last few years. Recently the company added Special Developer Edition (SDE) firmware for its 9th generation tablets to the list. That includes the Archos 80 G9 and Archos 101 G9 tablets. But while earlier SDE firmware releases have been based on Angstrom Linux, the SDE software...
FXI started taking orders for its $199 Cotton Candy mini-PC in February with promises that the little computer would ship in March. That didn't happen, but Laptop Magazine says FXI will start sending out Cotton Candy devices this month to customers that placed pre-orders. The company reportedly used the extra time to add a few features including a microUSB port, a...
Small notebooks are nothing new. They were around long before netbooks or ultrabooks hit the scene. They just carried a much higher price tag than their modern equivalents... and they became a lot harder to find once netbooks started selling for $400 or less, convincing shoppers that small notebooks should be cheaper than their 15.6 inch cousins, not the other way...
We already knew Asus was working on new 11.6 and 13.3 inch ultrabooks with high resolution 1920 x 1080 pixel displays. Now it looks like the company may add a model with an NVIDIA graphics card to the mix. Asus unveiled the Zenbook UX32VD ultrabook at an event in Taiwan, where the folks at Netbook News got to spend some...
Chinese device maker ZTE is starting to show off its upcoming V96 Android tablet. There's no word on a launch date, price, or even what regions the tablet will be available in. But based on the specs alone, the V96 looks like a tablet to keep an eye out for. The ZTE V96 features a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4...
Ultrabooks are all the rage with big name PC makers in the these days. Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba all have thin and light laptops they'd like to sell you -- and the Apple MacBook Air is probably the first ultrabook, even if it doesn't wear that label. But just like every other computing trend in recent years,...
Dell has a history of offering laptop and desktop computers with Ubuntu Linux. Some of the earliest Dell netbooks shipped with Ubuntu. But Dell recently pulled out of the netbook space altogether, and the company doesn't currently have any thin and light Linux-powered laptops for sale. But that could change later this year. Dell has announced a 6 month effort...
Samsung has introduced its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. The new phone will be the first to feature Samsung's new quad-core Exynos processor. It also features a large 4.8 inch Super AMOLED screen and Google Android 4.0 operating system. But it's probably Samsung's software that really helps set the Samsung Galaxy S III apart from some of the...
CrunchBang is a Linux-based operating system designed for speedy performance. It has a simple user interface based on Openbox and a core that's based on Debian Linux. I have a soft spot for CrunchBang, because it was one of the first Linux distributions to offer a netbook-specific version, called CrunchEee. But CrunchBang has come a long way in the last few...
