We first heard about the new Lenovo C100 all-in-one desktop a little over a month ago. The computer features netbook-like specs including an Intel Atom processor, 1 to 2GB of RAM and an 80GB or 160GB hard drive. But it's not a netbook, it's a full sized desktop computer baked into an 18.5 inch widescreen display. Today lenovo confirmed that the C100 will have a starting price of just $399.
I say starting price, because it looks like you'll have at least a few configuration options. Lenovo says the C100 will be available with either a 1.6GHz single core Intel Atom 230 CPU or a 1.6GHz dual core Atom 330 processor. I'd be shocked if that dual core option doesn't add a few bucks to the price.
It doesn't look like the Lenovo C100 will have a touchscreen display, something which recently launched all-in-ones from Asus, MSI, and Shuttle all have. But at $399, the C100 will be one of the cheapest of the bunch. And while a touchscreen would certainly make the computer a bit more usable in the kitchen or living room, if you plan to use this PC with a mouse and keyboard, I'm not sure a touchscreen would add much value. I don't particularly find reaching up to tap on the display to be a comfortable motion when I could just shift my arm slightly to grab the mouse.
