The Intel Atom N470 Netbook Chip Is On The Way

The Intel Atom has been just about the best thing for netbooks since white bread, and so it's no wonder why so many people are in a furor over some recently translated leaks about a new Atom CPU.

Code-named Pineview, the Atom chip is expected around the beginning of 2010. This has been known for a while now.

However, the real tidbits we're concerned with have to do with the fact that the chip (likely to be named the Intel Atom N470) will run at 1.83 GHz. It's only got one core, so the N470 won't redefine netbooking, but it's quite possible that Intel will integrate graphics and memory control into the CPU rather than requiring a secondary chipset. Sorry, Nvidia.

Leaks are leaks, however, so be sure to check back soon as we look for confirmation.
