HP officially launches the Mini 311 netbook

front

We've been seeing leaked images and specs for the HP Mini 311 for weeks now. But today HP has pulled back the veil on this 11.6 inch laptop with NVIDIA ION graphics. As expected, the laptop has a 11366 x 768 pixel display, NVIDIA ION graphics, and HDMI output.

Here's what you didn't know: It'll have a starting price of $399 and it will be available starting on September 23rd if you're willing to settle for the version with Windows XP. You'll be able to pick up an HP Mini 311 with Windows 7 starting October 22nd.

I'm still a little baffled about the 92% full sized keyboard. The HP Mini 5101 has a 10 inch display and a larger keyboard than this laptop. I don't see why HP couldn't throw in a full sized keyboard. But at $399, the HP Mini 311 will be one of the cheapest laptops around with NVIDIA ION graphics, so I guess I can put up with the keyboard.

Here are the complete specs:

  • CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270

  • Display: 11.6″  HD LED BirghtView Widescreen display (1366 x 768)
