Ultra-Thin Notebooks Hurting Netbook Demands?

Are we now looking at the gradual death of the netbooks? Hopefully not. But if the Digitimes report indicating that Taiwanese netbook vendors are slashing the prices of their Intel Atom N270 and N280- based due to the decreasing demand for netbooks is to continue, we might soon be looking at the demise of the netbook market.

According to the Digitimes report, netbook vendors such as BenQ, Asustek, MSI and Acer have all reduced the prices of their netbooks and are now starting to shift to ultra-thin notebook production.

Current prices of 10-inch netbooks in the Taiwanese market currently stood below the $462. Other netbook vendors including Toshiba, Sony and Fujitsu have maintained their netbooks' prices though.

BenQ's Joybook Lite, the Eee PC S101H, MSI Wind U100 and Acer Aspire One D150 have all suffered from reduced market price in the last couple of weeks. Even the 11.6-inch netbooks have suffered the similar fate.
