Compact computer maker Shuttle has been offering Linux desktops for a while, as well as barebones systems with no operating system at all. So maybe it should come as no surprise that the company's latest all-in-one desktop ships with Linux. But I'm still a little surprised.
The Shuttle X500V has a dual core 1.6GHz Intel Atom 330 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive — all the specs you'd expect from a machine that comes with Windows XP. But instead, it runs OpenSUSE 11.1 Linux.
The computer measures about 15.4″ 12.9″ x 1.4″ and has a 15.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel touchscreen display, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Ethernet, VGA output (for a second monitor, I suppose), and 5 USB ports. It runs about 511 Euros or $728 US, although it's not available in the United States yet.
