Microsoft Working on Its Own Tablet?

The time has finally come for Microsoft as they soon to serve up their very own piece in the booming tablet market. The announcement is scheduled to be held this coming Monday in an event in Los Angeles which then considered as to be a major one centering on their tablet strategy.

This might be the best move for Microsoft given the fact that they typically design both hardware and software with efforts to best compete against Apple's strengths. Their tablets are expected run on ARM-based chips as well on traditional PC processors.

Although this could indeed be a better match with Apple's tight integration, their intention is yet unclear. Rumors are likewise spreading that their energy would focus more around Android but would be tougher in the case of Google as they are doing the same as well.

Nonetheless, for the observed years, Microsoft has done quite an experimentation in the variety of approaches of creating other tech line like the Zune which unsuccessfully competed with iPod. Hopefully, Microsoft's new venture for their own tablet line would end up being successful though.

Galaxy Note 10.1 briefly available to pre-order

For a short time, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was available to pre-order through Amazon.com for $549. The listing however was promptly removed.

As well as the asking price for the tablet being made public, Amazon also cited a delivery date of 3 to 5 weeks. The listing also appeared to indicate that Samsung had indeed swapped the processor to a quad core one, instead of a dual core processor.

Those who were able to pre-order the Samsung tablet before the page was removed have had their orders cancelled. A Samsung representative told Slashgear that the final pricing and availability is currently still to be announced, so what information that was published by Amazon is not entirely accurate.

"The Note 10.1 is NOT available for pre-order, and in fact we have not yet announced final details, timing or pricing for this product. The information Amazon published is also not entirely accurate. Samsung does appreciate all the interest and excitement about this upcoming offering and we will have more details to share soon."

Next-Gen MacBook Pro to Have Retina Display

Where else would the great news always come from other than Apple? This time, their laptops are about to come with "Retina" displays. It means that there would be a great difference of the screen pixels if seen up close or at arm's length.

The other side of it, good news can't always be good news as this "Retina" display doesn't come cheap. The first one from Apple with 220 pixels per inch would take record as the next-generation MacBook Pro. In only a matter of 15-inch laptop dimension, it stretches more with the price starting around $2199.

But of course the price wouldn't be that high just for the display specs. It runs at 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT650M graphics, an 8GB of RAM plus a 256 GB Solid State Disk. All these are encased in 0.71 inches thick with a weight less than 4.5 pounds. The battery life on the other hand seems to be not a problem since it is capable to withstand for as long as long 7 hours.

Along with this is as well the revelation of the new MacBook Air models priced initially at $999. However, no high-resolution displays is there to offer yet.
